This program is suitable for BEGINNERS to coding from 6 – 12 and makes use of a computer and mouse, provided by Build-A-Mind for in person students.

Get your kids started on the exciting coding journey.  We use an internationally renowned curriculum provided by to support your child’s coding journey.  This software is freely available and your child can access and use it without needing to attend a class, however, there are distinct advantages of being in a social group of likeminded peers.  In a group, children are often more motivated and committed to achieve. They can also get instant feedback and support to help them succeed and stay on track.  Being part of a group outside of school and activities also provides children with new friends and opportunities to build confidence in social interactions.

Our program enables children to work through the activities at their own pace, providing hands-on support as and when they need it.  Working in this way allows the children to process the information in their own way, but still ensures that they are kept on task and progressing in line with their own abilities.

Through this program, your child will learn about many different aspects of computer science by completing fun coding puzzles and challenges.

  • Algorithms, Loops, Functions, Variables, Conditionals
  • Data
  • Abstraction, Decomposition, Pattern Recognition
  • Computing Practice and Programming (Use of computational tools)
  • Computers and Communication Devices (Elements of computing devices and networks)

In addition they will be actively engaged in Computational Thinking Practices:

  • Creativity
  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Persistence
  • Problem Solving
